Our Story
Our hotels have taken center stage in historic events. The UN Charter was signed in the Garden Room of Fairmont San Francisco. In 1943, Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt met at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac to plan the Normandy invasion. Our luxury hotels have welcomed movie stars, rock legends and royalty, and we believe in treating every guest with the same care and distinction.
As a trailblazer in luxury hospitality, Fairmont has always innovated. When it opened in 1889, The Savoy pioneered 24-hour room service with a "speaking tube," while Fairmont Peace Hotel was the first building in Shanghai with electric elevators.
